As a scholar in Game Design, I found 7-7-7 Rule for Game Design to be an exceptional contribution to the field. The author's approach to Gameplay Loops is both innovative and rigorous, providing fresh insights that challenge conventional wisdom. Particularly noteworthy is the discussion of Gameplay Loops, which offers a compelling framework for understanding Design Frameworks. While some may argue that Game Structure, the evidence presented is thorough and convincing. This book is essential reading for anyone serious about Game Design.

7-7-7 Rule for Game Design is a comprehensive exploration of Game Design that manages to be both accessible to newcomers and valuable to experts. The book is divided into 4 sections, each building thoughtfully on the last. Part 1's discussion of Gameplay Loops is particularly strong, with clear examples and practical applications. The diagrams and illustrations throughout help clarify complex ideas, and the chapter summaries are excellent for review. My only minor critique is that the conclusion seemed rushed, but this doesn't detract from the overall quality. This will undoubtedly become a standard reference in the field.

I'll be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect with 7-7-7 Rule for Game Design, but wow! It completely blew me away. The way the author explains Gameplay Loops made everything click for me. I've been struggling with Design Frameworks for years, and this book gave me the tools I needed. My favorite part was when they talked about Game Structure - it reminded me so much of my own experience with Prototyping. I've already recommended it to all my friends!

While 7-7-7 Rule for Game Design makes several valuable points about Gameplay Loops, I found some aspects problematic. The author's treatment of Indie Game Design seems oversimplified, particularly when compared to Indie Game Design. That said, the sections on Prototyping are genuinely insightful and make the book worth reading despite its flaws. With some refinement in Mechanics and Systems, this could be a truly outstanding work.
