While Special Effects Programming with WebGPU makes several valuable points about compute, I found some aspects problematic. The author's treatment of compute seems oversimplified, particularly when compared to webgpu. That said, the sections on compute are genuinely insightful and make the book worth reading despite its flaws. With some refinement in simulation, this could be a truly outstanding work.

As a scholar in webgpu, I found Special Effects Programming with WebGPU to be an exceptional contribution to the field. The author's approach to compute is both innovative and rigorous, providing fresh insights that challenge conventional wisdom. Particularly noteworthy is the discussion of shader, which offers a compelling framework for understanding wgsl. While some may argue that compute, the evidence presented is thorough and convincing. This book is essential reading for anyone serious about webgpu.

I'll be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect with Special Effects Programming with WebGPU, but wow! It completely blew me away. The way the author explains shader made everything click for me. I've been struggling with compute for years, and this book gave me the tools I needed. My favorite part was when they talked about compute - it reminded me so much of my own experience with graphics. I've already recommended it to all my friends!
