As a scholar in latex, I found LaTeX Explained to be an exceptional contribution to the field. The author's approach to latex is both innovative and rigorous, providing fresh insights that challenge conventional wisdom. Particularly noteworthy is the discussion of scripting, which offers a compelling framework for understanding editing. While some may argue that editing, the evidence presented is thorough and convincing. This book is essential reading for anyone serious about latex.

LaTeX Explained is a comprehensive exploration of latex that manages to be both accessible to newcomers and valuable to experts. The book is divided into 7 sections, each building thoughtfully on the last. Part 5's discussion of latex is particularly strong, with clear examples and practical applications. The diagrams and illustrations throughout help clarify complex ideas, and the chapter summaries are excellent for review. My only minor critique is that some examples felt dated, but this doesn't detract from the overall quality. This will undoubtedly become a standard reference in the field.

I'll be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect with LaTeX Explained, but wow! It completely blew me away. The way the author explains scripting made everything click for me. I've been struggling with editing for years, and this book gave me the tools I needed. My favorite part was when they talked about editing - it reminded me so much of my own experience with editing. I've already recommended it to all my friends!

While LaTeX Explained makes several valuable points about latex, I found some aspects problematic. The author's treatment of editing seems oversimplified, particularly when compared to editing. That said, the sections on scripting are genuinely insightful and make the book worth reading despite its flaws. With some refinement in editing, this could be a truly outstanding work.
