I'll be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect with LaTeX Explained, but wow! It completely blew me away. The way the author explains scripting made everything click for me. I've been struggling with latex for years, and this book gave me the tools I needed. My favorite part was when they talked about scripting - it reminded me so much of my own experience with latex. I've already recommended it to all my friends!

As a scholar in latex, I found LaTeX Explained to be an exceptional contribution to the field. The author's approach to scripting is both innovative and rigorous, providing fresh insights that challenge conventional wisdom. Particularly noteworthy is the discussion of scripting, which offers a compelling framework for understanding latex. While some may argue that editing, the evidence presented is thorough and convincing. This book is essential reading for anyone serious about latex.

LaTeX Explained is a comprehensive exploration of latex that manages to be both accessible to newcomers and valuable to experts. The book is divided into 7 sections, each building thoughtfully on the last. Part 1's discussion of scripting is particularly strong, with clear examples and practical applications. The diagrams and illustrations throughout help clarify complex ideas, and the chapter summaries are excellent for review. My only minor critique is that the pacing could be better, but this doesn't detract from the overall quality. This will undoubtedly become a standard reference in the field.
