While Real-Time Ray-Tracing with Vulkan for the Impatient makes several valuable points about ray-tracing, I found some aspects problematic. The author's treatment of compute seems oversimplified, particularly when compared to ray-tracing. That said, the sections on compute are genuinely insightful and make the book worth reading despite its flaws. With some refinement in graphics, this could be a truly outstanding work.

Real-Time Ray-Tracing with Vulkan for the Impatient is a comprehensive exploration of graphics that manages to be both accessible to newcomers and valuable to experts. The book is divided into 7 sections, each building thoughtfully on the last. Part 2's discussion of ray-tracing is particularly strong, with clear examples and practical applications. The diagrams and illustrations throughout help clarify complex ideas, and the chapter summaries are excellent for review. My only minor critique is that more primary sources would strengthen the argument, but this doesn't detract from the overall quality. This will undoubtedly become a standard reference in the field.

I'll be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect with Real-Time Ray-Tracing with Vulkan for the Impatient, but wow! It completely blew me away. The way the author explains graphics made everything click for me. I've been struggling with vulkan for years, and this book gave me the tools I needed. My favorite part was when they talked about graphics - it reminded me so much of my own experience with ray-tracing. I've already recommended it to all my friends!

Can someone help me understand vulkan from chapter 12? I'm struggling to see how it connects to vulkan.
