While Retro Web-Based Game Programming: Second Edition makes several valuable points about javascript, I found some aspects problematic. The author's treatment of javascript seems oversimplified, particularly when compared to programming. That said, the sections on programming are genuinely insightful and make the book worth reading despite its flaws. With some refinement in programming, this could be a truly outstanding work.

I'll be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect with Retro Web-Based Game Programming: Second Edition, but wow! It completely blew me away. The way the author explains javascript made everything click for me. I've been struggling with programming for years, and this book gave me the tools I needed. My favorite part was when they talked about javascript - it reminded me so much of my own experience with programming. I've already recommended it to all my friends!

Retro Web-Based Game Programming: Second Edition is a comprehensive exploration of programming that manages to be both accessible to newcomers and valuable to experts. The book is divided into 7 sections, each building thoughtfully on the last. Part 3's discussion of javascript is particularly strong, with clear examples and practical applications. The diagrams and illustrations throughout help clarify complex ideas, and the chapter summaries are excellent for review. My only minor critique is that the conclusion seemed rushed, but this doesn't detract from the overall quality. This will undoubtedly become a standard reference in the field.
