I'll be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect with Paper to Play in 20 Minutes, but wow! It completely blew me away. The way the author explains Game Mechanics made everything click for me. I've been struggling with Game Concepts for years, and this book gave me the tools I needed. My favorite part was when they talked about Game Mechanics - it reminded me so much of my own experience with Indie Game Development. I've already recommended it to all my friends!

As a scholar in Game Prototyping, I found Paper to Play in 20 Minutes to be an exceptional contribution to the field. The author's approach to Indie Game Development is both innovative and rigorous, providing fresh insights that challenge conventional wisdom. Particularly noteworthy is the discussion of Game Mechanics, which offers a compelling framework for understanding Game Prototyping. While some may argue that Game Concepts, the evidence presented is thorough and convincing. This book is essential reading for anyone serious about Game Prototyping.

While Paper to Play in 20 Minutes makes several valuable points about Indie Game Development, I found some aspects problematic. The author's treatment of Game Jams seems oversimplified, particularly when compared to Game Prototyping. That said, the sections on Creative Thinking are genuinely insightful and make the book worth reading despite its flaws. With some refinement in Iterative Design, this could be a truly outstanding work.
